Costa Bonita Condominium Mexico Mazatlan

Hi, I'm Robert Middleton. My wife, Saroj, and I own a wonderful condo in Mazatlan Mexico. We can only stay a few weeks a year, so we invite you to make Mazatlan your vacation home away from home. Below you can learn all about the condo. If you like what you see, contact us and reserve a week or more in paradise.

Welcome to Costa Bonita

If you enjoy vacations with wonderful weather, beautiful surroundings, comfortable lodgings and friendly people, you've found it!

You can swim, surf, golf, shop, walk on the beach or just relax by the pool. But however you spend your time at Costa Bonita, you'll have a great time and return home rested and renewed.

Our Home in Paradise

We made an effort to furnish the condo to make it as much like home as possible. It has high quality, comfortable furniture and beds and is a great place to just hang out. Two bedrooms and two baths. Queen bed in the master bedromm and two fulls in the second bedroon.

The condo also has a fully equipped kitchen with real granite countertops, a dishwasher, dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Plus there's a washer and dryer, air conditioning and cable TV (with DVD & VCR).

In the bedroom we also have a desk and stereo set-up. You can bring your laptop or iPod and plug it right in. One of the great features of Costa Bonita is free WI-FI Internet service. Fast and reliable.

The View

Our unit looks over the lake and the garden and the view is simply stunning. Best of all, you can see the sun come up every morning without getting out of bed. You can relax on the large balcony and sip Coronas in the evening or watch the sunset and listen to the surf on the back deck.

We picked the garden/lake view over an ocean view because it was actually nicer. More privacy, a quieter building and better layout of the unit. These are pictures from our balcony.

The Grounds

One of the most beautiful properties in Mazatlan, Costa Bonita has a stunning pool, pristine beach, immaculately kept grounds with plenty of coconut palms and fanciful metal statues of wild animals.

There are dozens of people on staff who keep the grounds and buildings spotlessly clean. Everyone is friendly with a ready smile and “Hola!”

The Beach

The beach on the Pacific Ocean is a two minute walk from the unit. And what a beach it is. Uncrowded and pristine, it’s about a one mile walk to the point (Playa Bruja - Witch Beach), which we walk every morning we’re here.

It’s a shell collector’s paradise and depending on the day and the waves, you’ll see surfers, fishermen and flocks of pelicans. Ride a "bilingual horse" or stop for a Margarita at the Playa Bruja restaurant.

Condo Amenities

In the main Costa Bonita building there’s a small convenience store with drinks, necessities and knick knacks. There’s a computer room if you didn’t bring your laptop, and a therapeutic massage studio.

In addition, there’s an excellent restaurant open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Hungry in the middle of the day? Have fajitas and a smoothie served to you on the beach.

Plus, there’s a fully-equipped modern exercise facility, lighted tennis courts and gas barbecue grills right beside your own private pool.

The City of Mazatlan

Central Mazatlan is just a few minutes away by bus, cab or car. For a ride more fun than most amusement parks, take the open-air cabs, which are plentiful.

Mazatlan has a profusion of shops, restaurants, markets and sightseeing to keep you busy for days. Be sure to pick up a piece or two of the famous Talavera pottery at bargain prices. (We have several in the condo). And buy some fresh fruits and vegetables at the local markets.

The Seasons of Mazatlan

The high season is Dec, Jan, Feb and March. Beautiful weather in the 70’s and 80’s. April, May June - hotter but clear and beautiful. July, August, September - even hotter with high humidity and frequent rain (see right). In October and November it gets less humid and starts to cool off.

If it gets too hot you have the pool and the ocean, or you can retreat to the peaceful and relaxed pace of the air-conditioned condo unit - your home in paradise.

Questions and Answers

Here are some common questions you may have about visiting Mexico and Costa Bonita.

Q. Is it easy to get flights to Mazatlan?

A. Yes. Alaska Airlines and US Airways have flights to Mazatlan daily. Most flights connect through either Los Angeles or Phoenix.

Q. Can we bring our children?

A. Yes. Consta Bonita is very children-friendly. They'll love the beach and swimming pool!

Q. Is the water safe to drink?

A. Yes. In most restaurants, the water and ice are purified. If in doubt, ask. At Costa Bonita they have their own water purification plant. To improve the taste, we have a Brita filter at the condo.

Q. Is the ocean safe to swim in?

A. Yes. The ocean is quite shallow for several yards out. You can swim, body surf and surf in safety, but take the usual swimming precautions. There are no lifeguards at Costa Bonita. Be sure to use plenty of sun block lotion!

Q. What is the money exchange rate in Mexico?

A. There are about ten pesos to one dollar. A hundred peso note is worth $10. Pesos also use the $ sign, so don't be confused. Just move the decimal place one to the left. Many stores will except dollars for pesos at this exchange rate.

Q. Where do we buy food for the condo?

A. You can get the most common groceries, including fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats and fresh baked goods at the Gigante store - a 15 minute bus ride. Or you can go to the central market or mercado for even better (and cheaper) fruits and vegetables. Just take the mercado bus. It's about 30 minutes. You can also take a taxi (about 100 pesos each way).

Q. Where are the best restaurants?

A. You can get a good meal right in the Costa Bonita restaurant. But you'll find better restaurants in the Gold Zone - Zona Dorada - and in the Centro area. Just ask the concierge for recommendations.

Q. Where can I buy Mexican handcrafts?

A. You'll fid the best selection in Zona Dorada. Gallery Michael (of which there are three), has the best selection and most helpful staff. You'll find everything, from Mexican pottery (Talavera) to glass and wooden items.

Q. What's the best time to visit?

A. Just about any time is great except the hottest most humid time - mid July to mid October.

Q. What do I do next?

A. Make a reservation and book your flight!
