About Robert Middleton

Robert has been working with coaches, consultants and other self-employed professionals since 1984 when he started his business in San Francisco. He developed his marketing skills by networking in several business organizations and leading workshops and presentations in San Francisco.

Robert has been a designer of business identities, brochures and web sites; he has written hundreds of articles and reports and given presentations and workshops to thousands of people throughout the United States, Canada and England. In addition, he's provided marketing coaching and consulting to hundreds of self-employed professionals. Robert has maintained an active mailing list that he's stayed in touch with for over 22 years.

Robert was on hand at the inception of the coaching industry, sharing office space with Thomas Leonard, Laura Whitworth and Karen Kimsey-House. Robert designed Laura's first business card and the first CTI brochure.

Robert moved from San Francisco to Palo Alto in 1994 where he grew his business further, embracing the Internet and online marketing in 1996. In that period Robert created the online bestsellers, the InfoGuru Marketing Manual and the Web site ToolKit. He also launched the More Clients eZine in 1997, which has gone out weekly for over 12 years. Robert's list now includes almost 50,000 subscribers.

In 2002, Robert and his wife Saroj moved to Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz Mountains and kept growing his business on a more virtual basis. He started to created group teleconference programs that are still going strong and that hundreds of coaches and other self-employed professionals have participated in. His current program is the one-year "Marketing Mastery Program."

In 2008 Robert launched the "Action Plan Marketing Club" an affordable online resource for Independent Professionals. There are now more than 500 members of the Club.

Robert has consistently applied the marketing techniques and strategies that he teaches to his clients to himself. Essentially a one-person business (with his wife and a part-time virtual assistant), Robert has succeeded in cracking the marketing code and making attracting clients easier for thousands of people around the world.

The Paradigm Shift is a 3-day intensive retreat/workshop for consultants, coaches, trainers, speakers and other information-oriented Independent Professionals.

The Paradigm Shift Workshop is total immersion for 3 days where you will learn, develop, and plan a strategy for marketing and selling high-end programs and services that will make an even bigger difference to your clients.

This is an outline of the material we will cover in these three days.

Day 1 - Creating a New Marketing Paradigm

On the first day of the workshop, we'll turn your business and marketing world upside down. You cannot be successful marketing and selling high-end programs if you are believing, thinking, feeling, and acting the way you are now. You'll learn the models for developing and marketing high-end programs and begin to create the structure of a business service or program at a higher level than you've ever created before.

And you'll learn how to do it without selling your soul. Success in business is about contribution and excellence, not about "making a killing." You don't have to sell out your values by creating and marketing high-end programs. Just the opposite, in fact.

In addition we'll spend some focused time looking at and working with your existing paradigms or limitations that hold you back from taking the next step. In the workshop you'll actually step into a new paradigm where thinking big, thinking boldly, creatively and fearlessly is both natural and effortless. This is a theme and a way of being that you will bring into the rest of the workshop.

By the way, this is not about motivation, positive thinking, or the law of attraction! Those are useful but very limited tools. The work we do in this area is transformational and will truly shift your paradigm from one of struggle and effort to one of ease and confidence.

Day 2 - Marketing the High-End, Outcome Based Program

All marketing is about communication, but marketing high-end programs takes a special kind of communication. We'll spend the whole day creating simple but powerful and persuasive marketing materials for your high end program. You'll learn the step-by-step system for communicating about your program with impact.

Again, you don't have to be a "slick writer," to communicate effectively. Instead, you need to "speak from your heart" about what you have to offer and the difference it will make to your clients. You won't learn how to do a "sales job" but how to share with authenticity and passion.

Additionally, you'll create a simple, step-by-step marketing action plan to launch your service into the marketplace. At the end you'll know what to do, how to do it and feel confident that you can do it easily and successfully.

Day 3 - The Strategy Session System for Securing New Clients

Marketing is only half of the equation in filling high-end programs. Selling is the other half. In the final day of the program you'll learn a proven step-by-step process to convert interested prospects into paying participants of your program. You'll receive outlines and templates and spend time practicing the "Strategy Session Process."

Once more, selling is not about convincing someone to buy something they don't need! This is a completely outmoded and incredibly ineffective way to talk about the service you offer. A real selling conversation is mostly about listening to the needs of your prospect and helping them make a choice that serves them.

By the end of the workshop you'll not only have a stem and a plan for marketing high-end services, you'll know with absolute certainty that you can do it successfully.


Why I Created This Workshop/Retreat and Why I Think You Should Attend

Last summer (2008) I traveled around the country doing one-day workshops with several hundred people. The workshop covered my foundational Fast Track to More Clients material. I've refined and fine-tuned this material for years. I fine tuned it a bit more and took all of this material and put it into my Action Plan Marketing Club.

By making all this material available online, I didn't have to do one-day workshops anymore. And it's even better online. You can listen to the modules over and over, study the written material and work step-by-step to develop your marketing skills and plans.

In the spring of 2009 I launched a new program - my one-year Marketing Mastery Program. This is for people who have already experienced some success with their marketing and business and who want to take things to the next level. But I can only do one program a year, and it's a big commitment financially and time-wise.

But the Mastery Program has been so great and we've had so many breakthrough results, that I wanted to find a way to offer this material to more people,

I asked myself if I could offer a program that cost a fraction of the price and cover the core material from the Marketing Mastery Program.

What I came up with was this three-day workshop intensive I call the Paradigm Shift. In a three-day workshop we can do so much more than a one-day workshop. We can get into much more depth and actually work to develop specific marketing strategies to market and sell high-end services.

The only catch is that I was not willing to travel around the country with this workshop! I decided to do it in my own backyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains near San Jose, CA. And to make it easy I'm throwing in lodging and all meals, and even transportation from the airport. All you need to do is fly in. The rest will be taken care of.

I decided to price the workshop very reasonably compared to other marketing workshops of this kind. (One of the first 3-day workshops I did was with Jay Abraham and that cost me $5,000!) And instead of a lot of lofty principles that are hard to understand and even header to implement, this workshop will take you step by step through the process of successfully developing, marketing and selling a high-end service.

Structure of the Program

Workshop format: The Workshop/Retreat includes three days of interactive instruction, exercises and coaching. You will also be doing work in small groups.

Preparation materials: You will get preparation materials to be completed before the workshop. You won't be walking into the workshop cold but ready to shift your paradigm.

Mastermind Groups: After the workshop you will divide into small mastermind groups to support each other in implementing what you have learned in the workshop.

Location: The Workshop/Retreat is held at the Presentation Center in the Santa Cruz Mountains, about 1/2 hour from the San Jose Airport in the South San Francisco Bay Area. It's a beautiful natural setting where you can unwind and relax away from the demands and pressures of your business.

Schedule: Thursday and Friday of the Workshop go from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or later. Saturday will end at 5 p.m.
